It looks like we have the beginning to yet another Boston-New York rivalry, this time it’s the Professional Women’s Hockey League. This was PWHL Boston’s second home game of the season. There were plenty of big hits, as well as multiple scrums throughout the afternoon.
The first period saw just one goal, scored by New York’s Jade Downie-Landry with just under three minutes to go. The second period got off to a much quicker start, with Jessie Eldridge scoring just 0:26 seconds in to put New York up by two. A few minutes later, Jade Downie-Landry netted her second of the afternoon, giving New York a commanding 3-0 lead. Boston then yanked starting goaltender Emma Söderberg, and Aerin Frankel came in to takeover. Boston started the final period with a quick strike by Loren Gabel just 1:12 in. That was it as far as scoring until Jade Downie-Landry hit an empty net with just under three minutes to go to give her the hat trick. With the final score of New York 4 and Boston 1, Boston falls to 2-2 on the season.
