BOSTON FLEET VS MINNESOTA FROST – 12/4/2024

PWHL’s Boston Fleet hosted the Minnesota Frost at the Tsongas Center in Lowell, Massachusetts on December 4, 2024. This was their second game of the season, as they fell to the Toronto Sceptres 3-1 in their opening tilt on November 30, 2024.

The game got off to a slow start scoring-wise, as the first period finished at a 0-0 tie. There were three penalties in the opening period, all committed by the Fleet. Luckily, the Fleet were able to fight them all off with strong penalty killing. Daniela Pejsova went off just 1:20 into the period with a Tripping call. Jessica Digirolamo and Emily Brown both went off later in the period on Interference and Delay of Game calls.

The second period saw a goal 7:25 in, by Minnesota’s Michela Cava. It is her first goal of the young season. Taylor Heise picked up the assist on the play. At 17:59, Maggie Flaherty of the Frost was penalized for a Check to the Head on Alina Müller. Flaherty is currently serving a two game suspension for the hit. After the refs reviewed the play, it was deemed accidental contact so it resulted in only a two minute penalty. The Boston Fleet were unable to capitalize on it.

The third period saw Fleet Captain Hillary Knight net the game tying goal, her second goal of the season, 4:01 in. Emily Brown and Hannah Brandt tallied the assists. Just five minutes and change later, Dominique Petrie scored her second goal of the year, which ended up being the game winner. Mellissa Channell-Watkins and Sophie Jaques were credited with the assists. There were no penalties called in the final period.
