The Machine came to The Cabot in Beverly, Massachusetts on May 3, 2024. They are a well know Pink Floyd tribute band.
Phenomenal, Phenomenal, and Phenomenal! These are the three words to define the performance of The Machine at the Cabot. The group that has forged a 30+ year reputation of extending the legacy of Pink Floyd, delivered a terrific performance.
The audience, most of them part of the Baby boomers generation, was excited to see the band. Tahrah Cohen (drums), Scott Chasolen (keys/vocals), Ryan Ball (guitar/vocals), and Chris DeAngelis (bass/lead vocals) are the members that performed live in front of a well-educated audience.
THE PERFORMANCE
If The Machine’s goal that night was to celebrate the music of Pink Floyd and honor the life of Joe Pascarell, we could say: “Mission Accomplished.” In fact, the group went through several albums to choose and execute the most celebrated songs of Pink Floyd. The songs were a mixture of blues and music hall, incorporating sound effects, spacy guitar and keyboards. They also displayed extended improvisation, such as their rendition of “Interstellar Overdrive.”
The skills of Ryan Ball and Chris DeAngelis were on display as they played some of the hit songs of Pink Floyd, most of them from the early 1970s. The Wall, Wish You Were Here, Time, Comfortably Numb, and the Great Gig in the Sky were just a taste of songs featured. We could perceive the images of Syd Barrett, the lead guitarist of Pink Floyd, and bassist Roger Waters through them. Tahrah Cohen, one of The Machine’s founding members, had also played the drums with the same energy and passion as Nick Mason, the drummer of Pink Floyd.

KEEPING UP WITH THE MACHINE
The Machine will be playing a show on May 24, 2024 at the Tarrytown Music Hall in Tarrytown, New York. After that, they will be making a quick run overseas. May 30, 2024 they will be hitting the Sony Centrum in Brno, Czech Republic. The following two days they will be performing in Poland. After that, they are set to return to the United States and stay busy through November. Their final date of 2024 as of now is scheduled for November 29, 2024 at the Keswick Theatre in Glenside, Pennsylvania.
