The Swell Season performed at Boston’s TD Garden on March 19, 2025. This set was part of the Misneach Festival. This new event is an annual global Saint Patrick’s Day music festival, and celebration of Ireland’s musical heritage and culture. This festival is hosted and headlined by Dermot Kennedy. There was also an opening night at Brighton Music Hall the previous night. Before Boston, Misneach hit Sydney, Australia on March 16, 2025 for their first ever show.
The Swell Season, an incredible Irish folk rock band is comprised of Glen Hansard (of The Frames) and Czech singer and pianist Markéta Irglová (the duo won an Academy Award for their song “Falling Slowly”). I always make sure to catch Glen Hansard when he comes to New England – One of the best singer/song writers out there. When the man sings, he wears his heart on his sleeve and leaves everything on the stage. Known for much longer sets, The Swell Season seemed pressed for time only playing a hand full of their catalogue this night. Though they did fit in a new song “People We Used To Be”, which was a nice surprise. Hansard recently opened for Pearl Jam at Fenway Park last summer and will already be returning to the area this fall to play Seisiún Fest at The Stage at Suffolk Downs on Sept 7th, which also includes The Pogues and The Dropkick Murphys.

KEEPING UP WITH THE SWELL SEASON
The Swell Season has a busy year ahead of them so far. After just wrapping up at the City Winery New York City on March 23, they’ll have a few weeks off before picking things back up overseas. May 13, 2025 they will be in Amsterdam, Netherlands at the Koninklijk Theater Carré. The following day they will stop at De Roma in Antwerp, Belgium. Other key stops scheduled include Germany, Poland, and the United Kingdom. They will then hit Ireland for two nights at the National Concert Hall. July 11, 2025 they will return to the US. They will be in Vienna, Virginia to kick off a fifteen date stretch. After key stops in places like Chicago, Massachusetts and the Carolinas, they will take a rest after their stop in Atlanta, Georgia on August 2, 2025. They will then pick back up in September, with another eleven date run ending in Seattle, Washington on September 24, 2025. Head to the links below for any new updates and announcements!
