Tasting alcohol and listening to the music of St. Paul and the Broken Bones was the mixed program on May 9, 2024 at the Roadrunner in Allston, Massachusetts. For the hundreds of fans who attended the event, the motivation was simple. After a long day at work, or a stressful week, taking a few drinks might sound like just what you need to start the weekend.
The conversation was loud. The atmosphere was electric. That was crazy, I’ve not experienced in a long time that sort of passion for drinking and music in a nightclub. It was amusing to see in almost every corner someone is drinking. The fans were there for two things. Discovering over 60 whiskies as part of The WhiskyX’s experience, and dancing. As a professional photographer with my camera, I walked around the place to capture the moment.
AT 9:00 P.M. THE MUSIC STARTED
St. Paul and the Broken Bones were phenomenal. The Alabama band consists of Paul Janeway (vocals), Jesse Philipps (bass), Browan Lollar (guitar), Kevin Leon (drums), Al Gamble (keyboards), Allen Branstetter (trumpet), Chad Fisher (trombone), and Amari Ansari (saxophone). They proved that drinking and dancing is a great way to listen to music and enjoy yourself. The lighting, the sounds… everything was well orchestrated for an extraordinary night. The group gave a great live performance.
The audience went wild when Paul Janeway left the stage and walked amongst the crowd. It was exceptional. A few minutes later, with his saxophone, Amari Ansari set the place on fire. It was another magical moment. The fans cheered when the band performed some of their best songs. Call Me, The Last Dance, Apollo, GotItBad, Sanctify, Like a Mighty River, That Glow, All I Ever Wonder, Sugar Died, I’ll Be Your Woman, and Sea Star Dixie Rothko were all part of the performance.
Friday night was an amazing performance from St. Paul and the Broken Bones. The popular group is renowned for playing with energy on stage, and their live show at the Roadrunner is clearly another example of greatness and magnanimity.
