Smallpools and Grayscale brought their co-headlining tour to the Paradise Rock Club in Boston, Massachusetts on April 13, 2024. This show was part of The Night Shift Tour. Fia James and The Romance were both also on the bill. All photographs and written review from the event were provided by Joanna Gleason and Jean Senat Fleury.
The atmosphere at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston was truly contagious. Grayscale opened the show with the full band on stage. Collin Walsh (vocals), Andrew Kyne (lead guitar/backing vocals), Dallas Molster (rhythm guitar/backing vocals), and Nick Veno (drums/percussion) all make up Grayscale. They began their set with Just Right. In Violet, Forever Yours, and Fever Dream were some of the fan favorites performed during their 12 song set.
In my photography career over the years, I’ve shot several bands that have impressed me; Smallpools performing at the Paradise was one of them. Four musicians did the entire job. Sean Scanlon (lead vocals/synthesizer/keyboards/piano) from New York, Mike Kamerman (guitar/vocals) from New Jersey, Beau Kuther (drums/vocals) from Oregon, and Joe Intile (bass/guitar) from Oregon. The performance was amazing. It was exceptional to see the connection between Sean Scanlon and the audience. The sold out Paradise crowd was bouncing like crazy. The fans got even more excited when Sean left the stage to join the audience. The singer walked through the crowd for five minutes, that was electric! SmallPools setlist was diverse and helped create an atmosphere of joy and happiness. They kicked things off with Nightshift. Killer Whales, Million Bucks, and Dreaming were also featured throughout the set.
