The Boston Fleet took on the New York Sirens at the Tsongas Center on March 5, 2025. Boston came out on top 5-2, sweeping the season series with New York. Captain Hilary Knight dominated, scoring three times and adding an assist. Aerin Frankel was solid in net as always, stopping 38 of the 40 shots she faced.
The game got off to a fairly quick start, with the Sirens getting on the board a little over seven minutes in courtesy of Elizabeth Giguère. Alina Müller tied things up seven minutes later, assisted by Hilary Knight and Shay Maloney. Hilary Knight kicked off the scoring in the second period, scoring her ninth goal 1:36 in on the Power Play. Shay Maloney and Susanna Tapani picked up the helpers. 12:16 into the second, Knight struck again making it 3-1 Boston. Alina Müller grabbed the assist. Sarah Fillier netted her eighth goal of the season (PP) 14:22 into the second pulling the Sirens to within a goal. Abby Roque and Jessie Eldridge tallied the assists. The final frame was pretty uneventful until Susanna Tapani scored 14:54 in to give the Fleet a two goal lead again. Jill Saulnier and Sophie Shirley were credited with the assists. Hilary Knight added an empty netter with just eight seconds left, giving her the hat trick for the evening.
KEEPING UP WITH THE BOSTON FLEET
The Fleet are off until March 15, 2025 when they will take on Ottawa at TD Place. The last time these two teams met, Boston defeated Ottawa 2-1 in overtime. After Saturday, they will still see Ottawa two more times before the season comes to an end close.
